Esther Nderitu

Founder & Director of Emily Martin Rescue Centre

Len and Susan met Esther in 2013. Since that time, Esther has worked tirelessly to assist us with our ministry in Kenya in any way that she can. In 2016 she purchased land and started the Emily Martin Rescue Centre. This ministry will provide a place for women to heal from all types of abuse and get counseling and training that allow them to get a job and care for themselves. A victim of spousal abuse herself, she is able to relate to women in similar situations. Esther also helps with the women's fellowship, where she and Susan share the gospel and encourage women. Esther is an accomplished artist and makes and sells her products in Kenya as well as the US. She is a true servant with a heart to serve Jesus.

Len and Susan Eastwood

NOW Founders
Board Secretary & Treasurer

Susan and Len first came to Kenya in 2008. Over the next several years, they came to Kenya first on a 10 day trip, then two weeks, then three weeks, and then for one full month. The voice of God became clearer and louder. It was time to "sell it all" and become full time missionaries. In April 2012 they moved to Kenya to minister full time. They have spent the years learning as much as they can about Kenyan culture and all that comes with being a full time missionary. They officially founded Neighbors Outreach Worldwide in 2014. The Eastwoods feel called to live in community with the people of Kenya and pray that they will be able to continue to minister to women through the Emily Martin Rescue Centre. They will also continue the Children's Welfare and Education Program that provides for children spiritually, mentally, and physically.

Monate Akuei

Ambassador of the Emily Martin Rescue Centre

Monate was born in South Sudan in 1998. Because of war and adversity in South Sudan, Monate spent most of his life in Kenya. He went to school in Kenya and in secondary school was a schoolmate of some of the children sponsored by Neighbors Outreach Worldwide. In the summer of 2019, Susan and some of the children were invited to a rugby match sponsored by CFC Stanbic Bank. At that match, the boys recognized Monate (an accomplished and well known rugby player)as their former schoolmate. Susan asked Monate if he would be willing to use his well known name and reputation as a good man to speak on behalf of The Emily Martin Rescue Centre. He readily agreed and spends time at the centre volunteering with the children of the women who are clients and speaks on behalf of the clients whenever given a chance. He has been an advocate for the Rescue Centre both on Kenya television and radio and has spoken most recently in the United States.

Spencer Cason

Chair of the Board

Spencer first came to Kenya in 2016 for three weeks. She was part of a mission intern group with Bailey, Sara Grace, Aubrey and Emily – later to be known as the “Big Five.” After seeing the Haven being built and Susan and Len’s incredible ministry, she wanted to be committed to serving in Kenya long term. After graduating college, she spent several months in Kenya, sharing her compassion and hospitality at the Emily Martin Rescue Centre. In April 2018, Spencer became the Chair of the Board of directors of Neighbors Outreach Worldwide.

Bailey Mims

Vice Chair of the Board

Bailey first traveled to Kenya with the "Big Five" group and fell in love with the people and ministry there. Bailey has now served on short term trips to Kenya several times. She is passionate about sharing the gospel to hurting people, and seeing God free women and children from gender based violence. Bailey is currently a student at Liberty University and hopes to continue onto medical school. Bailey became the Vice Chair of the board in April 2018.
